Dr. Lauren Steffel
Welcome.
I am glad that you are here and exploring therapy. If you find yourself overwhelmed, stuck, or struggling, you don't have to face things alone. I offer an active and evidence-based approach to work through life's challenges with compassion and humor.
I am a clinical psychologist licensed in the states of New York and California (& in Florida for telehealth). I work with adults struggling with trauma, addiction, overwhelming or volatile emotions, relationships issues, depression, anxiety, and panic. Together, we will develop coping skills, deepen understanding of yourself and others, and generate new perspectives in order to enhance resilience and build a more fulfilling life.
My therapeutic approach is grounded in evidence-based treatments including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness, Motivational Interviewing, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). I am also trained in EMDR and Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) in order to provide holistic and dialectical care.
I value working with people from all walks of life. My clients span a range of cultural, socioeconomic, ethnic, sexual, gender, professional, religious, and generational backgrounds and identities. Our work will consider the intersection of history, identity, and societal attitudes and biases that shape mental health.
I am a member of the Association for Behavioral & Cognitive Therapies (ABCT).
